It looks horrible and it really wants you to die, but you will never find a more rich storytelling, simulation game. Hands down, it's one of the best games ever designed. The graphics may set you back, but don't let it scare you. Beneath those ugly ascii symbols are more mechanics than any other game that I know of, capable of doing amazing things. The controls have a bit of a learning curve, but in no way is it 'hard'. The community is such that if you get stuck, you need only ask for help. What more could you want?
