Loved loved loved this movie! Showing your adventures with all its warts, mistakes, mishaps, miscalculations, and how you learned and recovered from that was brilliantly honest and refreshing. A very real take on the dangers of not being prepared.
The attention you brought to the other issues of potential development was enlightening as well, as I had no idea that was /is taking place.
The mere idea of "developing" the area for further tourism is disgusting and wrong. Never fails to amaze me how we don't ever seem to learn from our mistakes. How we continue to steal lands from the aboriginal peoples (who were here LONG before we were) and overdevelop it instead of living in harmony with it. The sight of 300 helicopters swarming over the canyon was irritating beyond measure. I can't imagine how adversely that affects the surrounding wildlife. The guy who said everyone has the "right" to enjoy the canyon to its full extent is wrong, in my opinion. It is a privilege and a blessing for those who are physically capable of trekking through as you did. Unfortunately, those who are not can only get this experience vicariously through the images and stories of others. That's like saying that everyone has the 'right' to experience the bottom of the ocean or the top of Mount Everest, so let's build tunnels and trams to get there as well! It's nuts! I'll get off my soapbox now. but thank you so much for this movie. I truly enjoyed it!
