Overall I thought this was a solid to very good movie. If I may offer just a real quick rebuttal to the people disappointed Anakin didn’t come back from the grave to defeat the resurrected Palpatine. Anakin wasn’t resurrected and the Jedi ghosts only have so much power to influence the living (They can’t fight for them). Rey is the protagonist so she’s going to get the action, not a ghost (otherwise why would we even need Rey in the story). Anakin along with all of the Jedi had a hand in helping Rey.
That said I agree that Anakin would have been the better ghost to turn Ben, having been turned himself and given the fact that Kylo idolized Vader. (Not that I’m a huge fan of Hayden C. as an actor, but who knows he might have redeemed himself in that respect too!).
Although his father, Han wasn’t a force user and he had already tried once and failed to turn Kylo so it didn’t really make sense to have him do it. That is in my opinion the biggest flaw the plot.
Sure you can nitpick and find others and yes more could have been done to develop the characters and but it was a great improvement over The Last Jedi.
I felt the ending was solid and the fates of the characters stay within the precedent set in previous films.
JJ did a better job with the plot than most would have so give him props and make him the sole director for any future “episodes” that *might* come our way. Obviously the special effects were amazing and the movie was well acted. My biggest question is, where to now?
