So much about this movie doesn’t make sense - much of the science is bad and many of the decisions made by characters don’t make sense. Then, the story arc is really only held together by the watcher’s desire to understand what is happening back on Earth. Really, the mystery around that is the movie’s only (partially) redeeming quality.
