Extremely overhyped and disappointing.
This movie in no way represents the brilliance of the original film. It should have been called “The Color Purple Meets Glee.” Minimal character development, a scrambled plot, and a song/dance number every 15 minutes. If this movie were on TV, I would have changed the channel.
