The author conducted many interviews with Roger over the years. My favorite section of the book occurs during one of his very last interviews with Roger. They are together one on one of Roger’s private jet trips. It seems like it’s a one on one interview and quite extensive. The accommodations are luxurious, of course. When the interview is over, the author must return home. He boards an American Airlines flight seated three across. When he arrives at his home airport the hour is very late. No taxis are available. No Uber is available so he must foot the journey home walking 3 miles, dragging his rolling suitcase behind him.
What a contrast!
It is my hope that Roger Federer will assume the place of high ambassador for the sport of tennis. It is also my hope that he will parlay the excessive amount of money he has received from Rolex Watches, coffee, chocolates, and the RF enterprises into philanthropic largesse.
May he serve as a model for other sports billionaires to do the same.
