Fabulous! Captured the intensity of the personal, medical situations during COVID for staff and patients. One small criticism, at no point was it mentioned how domiciliary carers assisted to prevent hospitalisation of patients during this time. Home Carers ALWAYS strive to prevent hospitalisation of clients, working together with local health care professionals, but none more so than during this period of NHS crisis. We attempted to call upon district nurses, doctors etc as little as possible as we understood the pressures the system was under. Family were not permitted to visit, shop, care for family members if they did not live with the family members. Carers stepped up, did shopping, cleaning, hand holding, soothing, reassurance etc, shared laughter and tears, more than usual. Assisted clients via social media to chat with family and friends as much as possible to maintain connections. ALL of this was done while putting ourselves at risk too. Working 12-14 hour 7days a week. We also left our families to fend for themselves. All for minimum wage. Why did we do this??? We cared about our clients. Dimple
