Very rarely does a slasher-"horror" film give us characters so unlikable that you'll root for the killer. Ignoring the usual stupidity of characters in these kinds of films you get some quick and obvious plot holes. Like Leatherface reverse aging? Seemingly normal people surviving out right impossible things. The odd take of the fight or flee responses. I guess some echo location and super speed? The film fails to manage any thrills, frights, or even surprises. Unless poor writing and sheer nonsense is supposed to be a surprise these days. Like the original? We'll you won't lose sleep skipping this one. Though it may put you to sleep.

Add a few small things, break what is there and call it a new game. NHL xx

I've read fan fictions more true to their source material than this movie. I'm not even talking casting. The writer's clearly took the names of characters and places from the games and that was all. After that they just went out of their way to ruin some of the best protagonists and antagonists in Resident Evil. Claire and Chris not getting along and seemingly almost hating each other? Leon is a slacker in every way and outright incompetent? Wesker is just a stooge? The director, writers, and producers should never be allowed to work with existing source material again after the collective dumpster fire that is this movie. As a rather casual RE fan I gave it a shot and quit less than half an hour in. At which point I watched the rest out of spite for my wasted money. The good news? If you have a generic idea of what happened in the first few games? Forget half of it and summarize it in one paragraph. Done. Saved you some money.

The game used to be pretty good, but now it may as well be year one again. You grind for garbage weapons, a loot system which may give you gear that is way lower than what you already have or what you have while rarely giving you anything better. Technical issues that have piled up so fast that it makes Fallout 76 look stable.

Be warned that this movie has been flooded with bot reviews on Google. While I'm massive horror genre fan, I was never overly fond of the games as I've found jump scares to be absolutely lazy. However, my friends are big FNAF fans and have played every game. We all agreed this movie sucked and felt as if AI came up with the plot, characters, and majority of written dialogue as it was just a giant, nonsensical, mess. It was almost as bad as the latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot.
