8.5/10.
We are assuming all of the negative reviews were expecting non-stop action, or wanted the movie to take a formal stance on today’s US political landscape. Going through them, it appears most people are upset that there was zero context behind the civil war, completely overlooking the fact that the cause of the war was completely irrelevant to the story.
We enjoyed the fact that the movie took no sides on any political issues, and also enjoyed the drama of following two war photographers through a civil-war ravaged America.
If you are looking for a solid war-photography drama, this movie was phenomenal. If you are looking for a movie to re-affirm your political beliefs, this aint it.
