Amber Brunett – Google

I'm an hour into the movie and I honestly think I might drop it. It's a decent enough premise to stick around, but my god is the editing horrendous. Every five seconds you either get a montage or a flashback—even flashbacks to tell us what happened five minutes ago in the story! Totally unnecessary. Either tell it as a part of the story, while it's happening, or leave it out please. Giving me a headache.

(spoilers ahead) Big Marvel fan here. This was basically just your average superhero movie. It's a good watch but not incredible. The only real parts of the movie with impact is the introduction of Celestials (overlooking Quill's dad) and the cosmic effects their lore will have on future movies. I liked the philosophical tidbits in the movie, and I liked all the acting. However, this movie has a lot of flaws that I hope will get fixed in the future. The biggest one is there's too many characters. Like waaay too many. They should have either cut down on the number of characters or they should have told the story purely from one person's POV. Or even make a Disney+ series dedicated to showing their past! Because there's so many characters, we don't get to connect with them on a deeper level (plus they're kinda bland to begin with). So when characters die or make shocking decisions...I don't really care. I was also very confused by the purpose of the Deviants outside of being lore. By the end of the story, they kinda just pitter away and they're forgotten. But I do have hope for the Eternals in future movies! Since the group is split up by the end, I'm hoping we'll get more character development/focus. (And I desperately hope Icarus isn't actually gone. So much more can be done with his character) I'm also very excited about the foreshadowing of future characters! If you're a Marvel fan, this is a must watch since it'll have an impact on future plot lines (like the multiverse will have as well).

Just got done watching it. The later half of the movie definitely scared me and got my blood pumping, but not for the reasons I wanted it to?? I was looking on Netflix for good paranormal movies, but instead I got gore/torture. It had a lot of potential but I really wish they would've leaned more towards "oh the house is actually haunted, let's explore that" and not "it's not rlly paranormal, it's serial killers!" I also would've liked to see more with the sibling dynamic; they touched on it a little but overall the characters were pretty shallow. Decent enough movie otherwise.

A very good slow burn! As a Catholic and a big fan of any vampire media, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Plot is basically a devout priest meets an "angel" and revelation-like chaos ensues. The acting was amazing, and the character development relatively good. True, there were some bits of the show I had to roll my eyes at, but I still think it was a good representation of the horrible possibilities any religion can face when misled. I guessed some parts early but it still had me hooked. :) And yes, some of these reviews talk about the interpretation of Catholicism and other religions in the show being biased (leaning towards Christianity=bad). You'll just have to take it with a grain of salt. If everything and everyone was perfect, there wouldn't be a show! And even with that, I think the whole show makes for good commentary on religion, it's purpose, and atheism. Anyways, it's an enjoyable watch! P.S. I'd have to imagine me being Catholic made the slow burn/dialogue more enjoyable. If you're not interested in listening to a Mass or long Bible quotes, it might bore you.
