As Australians increasingly come to realise that successive governments of both persuasions have left us without a coherent defence strategy, and the inept procurement processes of the defence bureaucracy consistently leave capability gaps in their wake, this book provides clarity where there is otherwise opacity. The author introduces foundational defence and strategic analysis to deliver a thesis on strategy which is, at once, outside the conventional box yet is ultimately achievable. That stands in stark contrast to the mixed bag of wishlist capabilities that we are already paying for but may never see or, at least, not see in anywhere near an appropriate timeframe.
