A beautiful and touching short story by Neil Gaiman. He excels at pulling you into his worlds, which are just a little bit deeper and somehow more colorful than our “real” world. The narrator, who remains nameless throughout the story, comes back to his old home and relives an event from his early childhood. The characters are all so well written and the descriptions so evocative that you feel almost part of the story. The ending is unexpected, but is poignant and beautifully well done. One of his best works and highly recommended.
