Gosh, this is a terrible script. So many things that just don't make sense. Them can't find a good story writer anywhere, can they ?
1st of all, why would the senator go seek out the Obiwan ? Dude was trying to save one daughter ? while risking his whole family (including her), risking expose the whole rebellion that he is secretly backing, expose his own tie to the #1 fugitive Jedi ? risking the future of the his own planet, risk exposing Luke and the whole survival of the jedi order ? He would risk all that, while he can readily dispatch his own men, order his own clone-troops, unleash his team of assassins and bounty hunters ... I don't understand, how a man both that emotionally dumb, and at the same time politically-wise enough to fool the emperor (who himself a master of this game) ?
and then, of course, Obiwan just kinda running around, un-disguised, obviously walking right into a trap, risk exposing himself, lay bare his own mission for his #1 nemesis to view, invite them all to the heart of everything that is supposed to be hidden on Tatooine ... oh yah, and look at all that mess on Tatooine, now can Vader (who obviously keep a close watch on his inquisitors), with all that bloody messes around his own family, how can he possibly missed his own half-brother's kid who could potentially be a strong force carrier too ? How can Luke managed to escape the attention of Vader all those year until 1977 Starwar IV ?
Ridiculous story, this is a work of a junior writer who cannot kept consistency of his characters and the story-line setup ... what a huge disappointment, really !
Does this writer really know, this is a story about the "Oh-be-one-can-not-be ? where is the spin about that one?) Gosh, where is the imagination, for crying out-loud ?
You know, all that can still be done, if those editorial committee pay a little respect to the original setup: say, the kidnap is a political-related ploy to over throw the senator, and under hot pursue by imperial troops the kidnappers planned to kill the girl. Then it happened a bored-with-nothing-to-do Obiwan "accidentally" discover the plot in a bar fight, then disguise himself, pop-off Tatooine and rescue the girl, along the way running into the Inquisitors (who did not actually realize who he is), who suddenly found themselves amazed by this mysterious skilled Jedi that they can't managed to subdue ... then came Vader, and after a few near-missed encounters back and forth, they finally fight without realizing who each other really is (as Obiwan is under disguise and Anakin wholly cladded in mask _ Obiwan can't possibly know that Anakin survived, see !) ... and only discover as the fight unfold that they were old frenemies ... that is THE key event of this story: that Obiwan discovered Anakin is still alive and IS NOW Lord Vader ! wouldn't that be a better story ?
Yah, by the way this story here, nobody died after getting a burning light-saber thrusted right thru their stomach ... yup, and not too long ago, there was that one Quite-gone guy, supposedly a great Jedi, turned quite gone after just one little thrust by a double-bladed light-saber. Them Inquisitors must have gotten some really good doctors, or our committee of writers ran out of twists and decided to pop back death characters just to keep us audience guessing ...
Terrible inconsistencies ! Can I give it 0 star ?
I missed the old mythical theme of the George Lucas days ... seems nobody bother to really run the spin around Joseph Campbell's heroes anymore !
