Watched this movie for the first time tonight, some 21 plus years after it’s release, after seeing some online discussion that it was worthy enough to watch.
Although I found it interesting and somewhat enjoyable.. and I am a big Geena Davis fan, this was an over the top movie in just about every facet. You have to suspend belief at most every turn;
You crash a car with fatal consequences for another individual, with substantial injuries.. apparently a coma..and somehow you’re almost back to normal within presumably a few days.
A rabid ex con escapes from prison and assaults everyone in your house, for no apparent reason at all, (to the townsfolk and local law enforcement) and it doesn’t warrant attention..and seemingly the next day, you’re leaving your daughter and boyfriend behind, with some run down PI that you barely know.
Several other incidents that based upon the injuries sustained should take a person several months to recover, are apparently wrapped up during the Thanksgiving to Christmas season, culminating on Christmas Eve.
It’s a precursor.. albeit a poor man’s version, of the Bourne Identity, which was much better choreographed and well written. It’s a shame because I think Geena could have had a star turn here with the same support.
