I have watched this movie twice so far, and found it extremely compelling and satisfying both times. Aubrey Plaza is primarily known for her cutting-edge dark comedy, in which she excels. This is the only completely dramatic role I've ever seen her in, and she killed it. Also she is Executive Producer for this movie, under the auspice of Evil Hag Productions...which is right on brand for her, see. In tandem with the compelling plot, this movie calls attention to the plight of LOTS of folks forced by circumstances beyond their control to struggle on the edges of society trying to get their heads above water. Hey: It's a rags-to-riches story, right. With some dark twists. I call it brilliant. Did I mention I've watched it twice? I might watch it yet again, cuz, yeah, it is THAT good.

Stunning production. No, really, it's perfect. No happy endings to this story, it's the eternal struggle. The movie conveys this sad truth cunningly and accurately. A bit of genius here, and you can watch it in barely half an hour. Do it, and see wut I am sayin.

The pro reviewer who called this movie "preachy" sounds like blind white privilege to me. The amateur reviewer who was surprised at Oprah Winfrey's acting ability sounds like someone who has never watched The Color Purple, one of the greatest movies ever made. There are a LOT of folks who tell us that the US is not a racist country. As someone who has lived in areas that the West Coast and the East Coast have no familiarity with, I can tell you that is not true. So I can tell you: This film is needed. Unfortunately it will most likely be another scream into the vacuum of never-ending racism, with the help of reviewers who call it "preachy." White privilege telling us what to think...as always. I am white, btw. I choose to use MY white privilege to "preach" truth to power. Watch this movie. It's amazing, moving, and needed STILL. Maybe even more in the Trump era.

I first watched this movie soon after it appeared on DVD years ago - I checked it out of my local library. I liked it so much I bought my own copy. Just goes to show what can be done on a low budget with a unique script and great actors. I'm happy to see that lots of other folks have finally started viewing it also and are seeing how good it is. Kudos to NetFlix for adding it to their roster. About time this film got the wider exposure and recognition it deserves.

This is a GREAT movie for lulling you to sleep. I started watching it at bedtime, and it worked perfectly. I tried to watch the rest the next morning and realized there was no point. Got bored and went to wash the dishes instead.

I have watched a few episodes, but I don't think I can watch much more. Someone else said it's as if the writers were teenagers, and that rings absolutely true in my experience. It's as if the writers don't have enough life experience to understand how real adults act and talk. Every other minute I watch it I'm getting angry about how stupidly the characters are behaving. But stupidity causes more drama, right? And maybe that's the key to the whole series. But there are more intelligent ways to create drama - this is just lazy writing. The premise of the story is sort of intriguing, and so far I've held on just to see what happens next. But I think I'll be moving on soon. It's just pissing me off too much to keep watching.

An hour and 15 minutes of boring, stupid "found" footage followed by ten minutes of credits. I would have stopped watching it less than halfway through, but figured I would see if it got any better. It just got worse. Don't waste your time with this movie unless you want to study an example of really poor concept and writing.
