As someone who throughly enjoys marvel films, this was an absolute mess. It felt very pretentious with its loose end, non coherent universe-jumping scenes all to undercut wanda and reduce her nothing but a desperate human (no spoilers). Worst possible selection was Sam Raimi for this film, his pretentious and predictable directing ruined this film, and it felt more like a Raimi film than a Marvel film. In addition, there was nearly next time no humor in this, and it reminded me of a DCEU film trying to find its wings continually, but just never happened.
Marvel’s been a juggernaut put has produced bad films such as Thor 2, and more recently, they put out the Eternals which was another mess. Stop picking directors which override the marvel theme with their own, disjointed and I’ll fitting styles. This is how franchises go to pasture if marvel doesn’t check itself.
The writing was equally as bad, let’s not forget Christine’s shockingly bad and campy lines towards the end of the movie. How does that even make it through production?!?
I wanted to enjoy it, and was looking forward to this ever since No way home came out.
As good as No Way Home and Shang Chi was, this was its equal in the opposite direction. Beyond dreadful.
