Sicario: Day of the Soldado is what happens when actors are given a free and unrestrained hand in rewrites. From what I understand the screenwriter sold three scripts to the production company and presumably had already been paid for them so I'm guessing he didn't care when they asked if they could make some changes to 'Soldado'. The result? Sicario: Day of the Soldado can't hold a candle to the first film after being nipped, tucked, butchered and chopped. It probably left twenty million or more on the table in release. If the third installment ever goes into production I hope Villeneuve returns to direct and the actors touch is light.
