Preethi Puram

This movie moved me deeply. The starkly different trajectories of these women, one going from 'resigned to fate' to grabbing whatever opportunity came her way, another going from being a naive, dependent girl who limits herself at every step to someone who earned her own money through honest work, were absolutely engaging and heart-warming. I enjoyed all the other characters as well who put up fabulous performances and made the whole story charming and entirely believable. There were many subtle hints at the absurdity of the conditions in which women are brought up and the rules that they are subjected to, but they were never too in your face or preachy to derail the on-going narrative. On the whole, a fantastic watch which makes you think as well.
