This tv series from 2011 - 2016 is a 10/10. It is a classic gritty British police procedural. Lesley Sharp as Janet Scott is the “grown-up” of the two. An experienced copper is like the older sister of the two. She’s incredibly funny with conversational zingers that she serves up to Rachel Bailey, played by Suranne Jones. They’re relatively new partners in the beginning and their friendship blossoms further throughout the series. Rachel is 15 years younger. She comes off slightly ditzy, but she’s very sharp, funny and playful. Gorgeous as she is, Rachel doesn’t back down from a scuffle in the line of duty.
Then, there’s the boss, Gill Murray. She’s razor sharp smart as the Queen of coppers and one-liners. She runs the team of MIT (Major Incidents Team), runs her crew in a tight manner, and relies on the dynamic duo of Scott & Bailey to play a key role in solving complex cases. Tension in the storylines find relief from comedic script elements. It’s a great ride and a lot of fun! You’ll wish for double the amount of episodes in the end!
