I take exception to Sally Jenkins' commentary that the New England Patriots dismantled two high scoring teams (the Los Angeles Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs) in the AFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl. In fact, they did totally dominate the Rams but the Patriots vs. Chiefs game ended in a tie after regulation time. The Patriots won the coin toss, elected to receive the kick-off and then proceeded to march down the field to score the winning points. The Chiefs' offense never got to touch the ball in overtime so we don't know whether they would have again tied the game. In reality, New England one on a coin toss.
I take nothing away from the Patriots; they are the most dominant team in the history of the NFL but, please, get a guest with less bias towards the Patriots and give the Chiefs their due,
As a side note, I believe the NFL should adopt a different approach when a game is tied at the end of regulation time. Each team should have the opportunity to score in OT.
Thanks!
