This is the movie of the year. Hands down, no questions asked. I will try to keep this review spoiler free as much as possible.
When I first saw the trailer way back in 2019, I thought it was gonna be a disappointing high budget action-comedy that would be boring and flop hard. 2 years later and BOY was I wrong! It was funny, well written, had great acting and was just fun overall. The message about corporate greed and the plight of indie devs sits in the back of your mind, until after the action when it really makes you think about that. Sure in real life that's not the case, as indie devs make incredibly popular games (just compare The Binding of Isaac to Anthem, and you'll see why). It will go down in history as one of the most unique video game movies ever. And now I can officially say that I found a Ready Player One style movie that's better than Ready Player One. 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000/10, best movie of 2021!
