There are mixed opinions on the show and I would like to add my own perspective. It is difficult to interpret the characters at times and it did take me some time to understand why Yoo Jung (YJ) was the way that he was and why Seol gave him so many chances. But after I finished watching the show and contemplated for almost a day (cause I finished watching it at 2 am) I realised that the show wasn't focusing on the 'cliche lover boy lead' and an 'innocent and perfect female lead'. The intention was to show how love is much harder IRL, how hurting yourself also hurts others, how second chances are not something you get out of 'a nice thoughtful gesture' and how in a relationship you have to love the person with their flaws and try to understand them and their actions. I understand why a lot of people who have reviewed this drama bad but you have to understand that the show had no intention of being a perfect love story with drama.
All of the characters YJ, Seol, In Ho and In Ha as well as the nerd girl who tries to be like Seol were all representing some of the most intense human emotions that could be sidelined or ignored in a show. These emotions are more common than we might think is what I believe and that is what the writer was trying to focus on.
The actors were REALLY GOOD. YJ was a very complex character to play because he had so many sides to him but Park Hae Jin played it really well. Kim Go Eun and Seo Kang Joon were really good too. Their roles were also incredibly complex and hard to understand at times cause of the whole mix of emotions they feel throughout the show.
Lee Sung Kyung's character might seem obnoxious in the beginning but towards the end, you realise why she was the way she was and it was very interesting.
Overall I think everything that happened in the show, the rejections, the love/relationship, their mentality towards a lot of things, the ending, every bloody thing made sense and I wouldn't change a thing about it.
And to all those who have come to write a bad review please make sure to actually complete watching the drama and then do so and try to really understand the characters and their roles and also forget about all k-drama stereotype cause this is a rollercoaster of natural human emotions and it will leave you absolutely breathless!
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk and reading till the end, you are a real one!
