I'm trying reeeeaaalllllyyyy hard to enjoy this with my kid, and all I can do is cringe. Angsty, melodramatic teens and a robot dog? Unrealistic military protocol/response? Gratuitous fires and explosions? A bully and his team? I mean, if you're nine years old and have no idea how life actually works, sure, it's a decent movie. For me, it required too much of a suspension of belief to get into, or maybe followed too many typical tropes (poorly). Preteens of the world, enjoy! Just don't drag your parents into it, they will thank you later.
