I grew up on the books and they are some of my favourites! Extremely memorable, silly, yet serious. They didn't talk down or pander. The main character - a boy the same age i was my first time reading who was smart, rich, and all he needed Butler for was secretary. A female lead who had a backstorry, stronger and better than what the movie supplied. And a angry cigar smoking comander who cussed in gnomish. The movie provided a bad acting 15 year old, who liked extreme sports and had to use someone else's resurch and relied on Butler for everything. A female lead with little to no character. And a old woman who was the failing commander. In the end if this was its own movie, my vew may not be so harsh. But we were promised Artemis Fowl, we were given a slow movie with cg that already looks bad in many ways especially Forrlys walking. And even the "emotional" moments were boring, bady read, and simply not showing the amazing source material and the huge budget. I expect better with such good source material, but instead we get a few characters with the same names and nothing else.
