I have a two friends who are neurodivergent. Both have told me that this movie is incredibly unrealistic and portrays harmful stereotypes of the neurodivergent community. Both informed me that the movie did not uplift them in anyway but rather made them feel worse about being neurodivergent (wasn't it supposed to do the opposite?). A big part of this comes apparently from the casting of a perfectly neuro standard actress to portray the main character. The cliche and stereotypical script doesn't help either. Seeing a non neuro standard actress portray something she can't possibly understand was very hard for them to watch, and her acting at times even hurt (spawned the "is that what they think we act like" major internal self doubt). Overall, do not recommend, especially for young kids struggling with the fact that they are neurodivergent.
