I’m going to be honest. The first time I saw this movie I cried a lot. I liked the visuals and the focus on family, but that was pretty much it in regards to what hooked me. At first I was super surprised that it got such bad reviews, but in retrospect, it deserves it. Disney has recently focused on making you want to cry and start a conversation, but the quality of the stories are really bland, and A Wrinkle In Time is no exception. There were many characters introduced that had NO PURPOSE to the plot, like the love interest of the main character. Those who did were either useless or had confusing motivations. Like the main character’s brother. I forgot all the character’s names because they were really boring and forgettable. This entire movie is just that — I thought this movie was made in 2015 apparently because I couldn’t remember any of the details. I DIDN’T EVEN REMEMBER THE NAME, I SPENT 10 MINUTES TRYING TO SEARCH FOR THIS MOVIE.
Overall, 4/10. And that’s being generous. A Wrinkle In Time is so cringeworthy that you can’t even rewatch it with friends for the laughs, unlike movies like The Room. Get off your butts and go read the book. Or don’t and watch The Room instead.
