Horizon by Barry Lopez is a hefty book by a luminary. I was very much looking forward to reading it. As a literary work, unfortunately, it is a tedious, nearly unrelieved slog to read and seems to have been published with minimal and/or misguided content editing. There are some interesting tidbits to be found
but they are so thinly sprinkled among a dense, dark and haphazard approach to storytelling that I simply could not endure.
I do not often put down a book but I quit this one.
