The two hours I spent with this game confirmed the negative response I had to many of the decisions going forward with this generation.
If you're someone who can care less of whether or not the series is moving forward at an adequate pace, or if the lack of many past features or even half decent online functionality would not deter you from these games, then they will be great to you. However, as someone who moved on with this series since Gen 1 in the 90's and many of my favorite features that REALLY set Pokemon apart from many other RPGs, and who feels that the new features that DO look interesting and unique won't properly be expanded upon because GameFreak likes to drop good and oftentimes necessary features for new ones that fail to really capture...
Sword and Shield only convinced me that Pokemon will never truly evolve. The first console main series installment was a huge disappointment since the National Dex cut was first announced and had spiraled downwards since then. I most likely will not be purchasing any new Pokemon games going forward.
