Ok, so first off I Love Spike Lee. That being said, there was so much wrong with this movie. Why in the flashbacks were they the same age? In the end they showed a pic of them all young, that was confusing. They could have used younger actors or digitally altered them. When the one guy was blown up, no one seemed to be more careful. Also why did the son David not acknowledge the girl and her team as people who locate & detonate land mines. No one had to be tied up! How is it that in the flashbacks the 5 guys were surrounded but somehow were able to defeat all of the VC? So many issues with this movie. I appreciate the messages but there were too many and it was confusing to throw in civil rights leaders speeches then go back to them looking for gold. This movie was really about them looking for gold and had very little to do with finding their friend. I was disappointed there was very little of Chadwick Boseman in this movie. I also felt like if there was a character to be a maga supporter it wouldn't be Paul because he would feel guilty about norman and should have been more likely to follow his message. I would have expected the guy who was supposed to be rich to be the maga supporter. Don't get me wrong Delroy Lindo did an excellent job. This movie just seemed like a hot mess but now it's winning awards. I feel like it was unfair to advertise it as a Chadwick Boseman movie because it wasn't.
