I think the main plot of the show is pretty basic and enjoyable but all the subplots are what make the show really interesting. All the political corruption, all the lazy dirty cops, the ego-fuel, chain of command restrictions and all the rules of war whether you're a cop or a thug on the street. The dialogue is authentic and difficult to understand at times but when you get the wind into your sails you will flow right along with it. The cast is great. Watching shows years later is fun because you will recognize many of the actors in their younger years like Lance Reddick. If you like cop dramas centered around drugs & homicide this is a must watch. The show is expertly made with a perfect tempo.
