I can actually watch this version and say, "Oh, yeah, I remember that part of the book." And am not confused by Kubrick's mish-mash of scenes he strung together and decided to call, "The Shining." Kubrick's version is good in it's own right by itself, don't get me wrong, but it's wayyyy too far off the mark if you've read and (probably more so) enjoyed the book. This version also leaves the storyline intact allowing for "Dr. Sleep" (the book) to make far more sense. The Kubrick version forces an alternative storyline in the film version of the sequel, which was a very big disappointment as far as I was concerned.
