In the movie they showed the Japanese surrendering and running which was far from the truth. The Japanese seldom surrendered and never ran. The truth is they were a formidable enemy and we lost a lot of men as a result.

I love this book, irreverent and honest. I asked a lady friend and she verified the authenticity of the subject matter. It was all new territory for me, exploring the psychy of an adulescent woman. This could be compared to Catcher in the Rye, but with a female story line.
There is no sugar coating to the story. If you don't like swearing and sexual content, this book is not for you.

The message was good but the movie was not. The story was disjointed and didn't flow very well. One of those with good intentions but a terrible end result.
