I was awed at finding this film. Awed at the ending when, after much patience, the octopus reached out to the diver. Then incredibly sad
at the ultimate demise of this magnificent sea creature. After reading some impressions of those who missed the points of ecosystems, conservation, every living creature is valuable, and the peaceful progression through many dives into the magnificent sea, I say: yes, you missed the point.
Please do not tarnish this beautiful simple ode and unexpected therapeutic journey into the wonderful world of underwater nature deeply threatened by human misuse.
I hoped against hope this peaceful meditative narrative would win the
Academy Award. Because it was highly deserved. I closed my ears
thinking it had to lose -- and disbelief! The voters got it.
Now only if Chadwick Boseman had won posthumously for his performance of ten lifetimes in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
