The printed work is a collection of beautiful, self-deprecating, and often tangential memories and musings. It also includes Bono’s own illustrations and early personal photos.
The Audible presentation, however, is perfection. It includes clips of the 40 selected songs, as well as the punk, rock, folk melodies that influenced the author and the extensive U2 catalog.
Bono has found ways to express his deep intellect with precise anecdotes and observations transparently. Yet he simultaneously insulates a protective barrier around his band mates, family, childhood friends,as well as the endless cadre of fellow celebrities, world leaders and dignitaries U2 has collected the past 40 years.
Revelations? The multitude of medical crises Bono has overcome, including emergency surgeries, such as a pre-Covid open heart procedure that “made a very good day of what could have been a very bad one.”
Also, the extent to which Bono has successfully lobbied billionaires and multiple American presidents—George W. Bush, in particular—to cancel African debt, and fund hundreds of billions of prescription vaccinations and medications to suppress HIV.
This is a must-read for any aspiring global health and/or world leader.
Well done, Bono. Well done!
