i would probably give this book a 3.5. owens excels at illustrating kya's surroundings, and manages to pull the reader into her marsh and love for the environment. however, the actual characterization and general plot progression doesn't fare well. the dialogue is unnatural and stiff- throughout the whole story, I felt awkward, as though I were intruding on an extremely awkward conversation. it makes sense in kya's case, but for all the characters? additionally, the shift of using "proper" english for the good characters and "improper" language for the bad is a weird shift, especially when kya's dialect changes despite lack of interaction with those using proper English. i enjoyed the court scenes near the end, however, the actual ending was expected while still managing to fall flat.

Yu Yu Hakusho is a show that I had put off watching for a long time for no reason at all. I hadn't gravitated towards it, and thought, "I'll get to it later". Now, I wish I had watched it sooner. All the characters are fun and quickly grow on you. The mix of comedy, seinen, and action is just what I needed to scratch that itch at the back of my head. Even the coloring and animation are great; everything fits together and makes sense. One of the most entertaining shows that I have watched in a long while, and I will definitely be rewatching it later. Overall, highly recommend!

I've always watched anime, but for a while, I had stopped because I just wasn't feeling mentally up for it. One day, I decided to watch Cowboy Bebop and went into the show with no particular expectations. I can fully say that this is one of the most enjoyable animes that I have watched. Everything is perfect; the characters, soundtrack, and animation are all so well done. The characters are well beautifully written and you become attached to their bizarre stories. The opening, ending, and background tracks are all so catchy and pleasing to listen to. In fact, I often listen to the soundtrack in my daily life. The color palette and the way everything is drawn is so perfect for the anime; everything fits so well together. I often found myself laughing, smiling, and even crying while watching this show. It's now one of my biggest comfort shows. I highly recommend Cowboy Bebop- I will forever treasure the memories I have with the characters, music, and animation.
