Watched it back to back with The Devil's Rejects. Bad idea. Not familiar with Rob Zombie or his work, I adored The Devil's Rejects. Brilliant acting, cinematography and storytelling.
Poor Sherri Moon's character Baby was wonderfully evil in TDR, but in 3 From Hell tries too hard to be young and cutesy. Every scene she was in was cringefest of a dimestore elderly Harley-Karen-Quinn. Meanwhile, why ruin such a perfect ending of The Devil's Rejects with a second rate Dues Ex Machina that makes hardly any sense? And who was this Foxy Wolf Rando brother? The entire time I felt like he was forced in there just to keep the characters count at three.
3 from Hell seems to parody the franchise, with racist undertones that would make even the most open-minded egalitarian, centrist-non-SJW pundit cringe. Perhaps en lieu of recent world events, this film's choice of Mexican stereotypes just comes off as off-putting.
RIP Sid. ❤
