Ahhh. Terrible. Butchered all the potential in the plot. Honestly first movie I’ve seen that was in my own words a pre-sequel sequel... they failed to introduce the characters! They failed to reveal the grandeur of Doolittle’s gift. They basically assumed everyone’s already knows the story so why not just get on with it as if it were a sequel... but it’s not! Consider the 1st Spider-Man and how Peter Parker the protagonist is introduced; weak, bullied, insignificant. Then he’s beaten by a new unknown species of spiders and transformed. All the sudden a whole new world opens up for peter. the natural becomes supernatural we get the satisfaction of watching him vindicate himself from the bullies which contrast his former weak self and gives the sweet sense that this is a whole new ballgame!! That was a movie!! Dr Doolittle...? more of a great study into how not to tell a story. Umm sloppy lazy I heard that I agree. They wrote this on a whim —“hey if we put Robert Downey jr in it, it’ll sell, right?”— honestly think Johnny Depp was the man for this character... watch Spider-Man then watch this movie and you’ll know more about story telling then the guys that let this out.
