Mulan was one of my favourite Disney movies from my childhood and I was looking forward to see the new adaptation of the film. Unfortunately I was quite disappointed. All my favourite characters have been cut out from the film, like Mushu, the grandmother, ancestors and more. I understand that adaptations shouldn’t be exactly copy past from the original story but some of the iconic scenes that gave the original story interesting plot and action were not present in the new film. No music, no humour, no romance, no character development. Some of the scenes which are between Mulan and the follow soldier ( she possible likes ) are rather awkward. The soldier shows her sympathy you would expect a girl to receive from a man but yet he thinks she’s a man. It’s quite confusing and you nearly believe he knows she’s a woman. The movie is still worth a watch but don’t expect to be amazed.
