If i could give zero stars that's what i would have done.
There are way too many things wrong in this movie and my only request is DO NOT MAKE MOVIES ON WHAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND
just because you need to seem woke doesn't mean that you can use anything to cater your viewers.
1. TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN WHETHER SOMEONE ACCEPTS THEM OR NOT, it is not your place to approve of them or not anyway. I don't know why they chose Vaani Kapoor, a cis woman for this role instead of someone who is a trans woman, a person who knows the highs and lows and the struggle of being degraded by the society with every step she makes and unwanted opinions.
2. Ayushmann Khurrana, one of the favorite actors in the industry is very homophobhic and transphobic.
Recently he posted a picture by GQ and captioned it "Gender fluid 🖤"
no Ayushmann, painting your nails and wearing makeup does not make you gender fluid. It makes you a person who mocks people who actually identify as genderfluid and are so.
also,
He replied "Thank you" to a tweet made by "Bader Alkaabi" as a comment to Vanni Kapoor's post for the movie, the tweet said:
"film #ChandigarhKareAashiqui
One of the most beautiful films I have seen in Bollywood, discussing an issue that we have in our world.. We must admit that this disease exists and must be treated without shame. @ayushmannk
@Vaaniofficial"
here he does not refer to transphobia as a disease as you'd expect!
HE REFERS TO BEING TRANSGENDER AS A DISEASE.
I am sorry but if this is the kind of representation you think that the community wants, then you are wrong. Please do not make it worse for the community, sit down and never make a movie on things you do not understand ever again.
Edit: Ayushmann edited his tweet recently from "Thank you" to "Thank you! This disease (transphobia) should be eradicated." however Bader Alkaabi still says that being trans or not being a cis het person is "mental illness" wow
