After seeing Saw: The Final Chapter, I knew then and there the franchise could only go up afterwards. I ignored 2017's Jigsaw but trusted my optimistic side about Spiral and did not regret it. Chris Rock struggles at times to be the intense dramatic actor that he's trying to be, but his character and overall commitment to the movie was enough to keep me interested.

(Presumably) Like others, I was somewhat blown away by the trailer and even willing to ignore the fact that it practically spoiled the movie for those not familiar with Valiant Comics' most iconic character. Unfortunately, Bloodshot turned out to be yet another let down. Of course, there's no denying that there was a lot of passion put into it, but like most Vin Diesel movies that aren't Fast & Furious or xXx, it was 50/50 going in, and even less going out. And now, with a Miami Vice reboot series on the way with Diesel set as producer and star, I fear that either of the aforementioned franchises may not be enough to save his iconic image much longer. Only time will tell.

Genisys became another movie I underestimated rather badly. It can feel overstuffed, but in this case, that's good because of how many different futures and so forth are showed. Emilia Clarke's take on Sarah Connor was the part that absolutely made this movie for me. Arnold's take on a mostly different T-800 is interesting to say the least, and Jai Courtney's portrayal of a confused and readjustment-needing Kyle Reese is quite the deep thinker's paradise as is the movie in all. In conclusion, well, if this had been the last Terminator movie made, I would've been happier than ever let's say.

Remarkably written, acted, produced, and directed, Watchmen observes an Alan Moore-esque vision of our current world and in the process shows no political bias (Rather it shows ideas of the left and right [reparations for black people whose ancestors were wronged by the government, police officers needing clearance to use their guns, and taking a symbol that once stood for reason and turning it into a symbol of oppression and terror] unlike other recent TV adaptations of comic books, making it equal parts entertaining, shocking, and, in a very odd way, educational. All the while touching down on the past Watchmen in a way that hits its fans in an entirely different and deeper spot.

Visually grueling with astonishing set pieces and very pleasing reactions from the audience, Metallica: Through the Never is THE concert film that you must see not only for the effects but for the power of heavy metal rock and the amount of passion from their fans it generates.

District B13: Part parkour showcase, part sci-fi thriller, part B-movie, all action. When I first read about this, I knew it was better than Brick Mansions. The action sequences dizzying, the stunts equally impressive, once you see this, you will forget the remake even happened.
