Loved today’s show,haven’t watched it since Anne Robinson took over the chair , I have never liked her as a journalist ,I find she brings her profession into disrepute, no mean achievement in itself! Today’s show with Sir Trevor McDonald reminded me of how much I have enjoyed all of Countdown’s team going back to Richard Whitely and Carol Vordemon ( whatever happened to her? It is difficult bringing in a whole new team when all their predecessors (bar one) kind of feel like family friends but I can see all of today’s team fitting in just fine Nice one channel 4

As always I found this program (on electric cars) very informative but have one question remains unanswered. Before I ask it I would point out that the program conveyed an awful lot of statistics in a short space of time and in doing so one has to cut corners My question the cost of electricity for electric car versus the cost of petrol for a petrol car?When comparing the two is the cost of electricity compared to the cost of petrol with or without tax? At the present moment 1 L of petrol costs me £1.20 but around 80p of that is tax. I think the program stated that if I had an electric car I would spend only 25p on electricity for every pound spent on petrol (I think that’s what they said) My question is is that before or after tax is added to the cost of petrol? This is not a complaint about the program but a question that needs to be answered at some point, I’m not a petrol head who wants to disparage the use of electric cars I know that for our planet we need to greatly reduce or eliminate our use of fossil fuels
