I tried to start reading this about 5 and gave up every time because reading emails with no context is hard and boring. But SO glad I stuck with it, eventually, because once you get your head around what is going on, it is such a rollercoaster and is immensely satisfying right until the end. Loved it. I read someone else say that they didn’t think the characters were developed enough, but I felt like I truly believed many of the main characters.

Beautifully written and weirdly easy to read despite the gratuitous highbrow adjectives but oh my goodness, so bloody boring. This is a brilliant book if you like a boring story with a boring plot, which seemingly a lot of people do! Then again, I’ve never been interested in stories that ‘explore themes of…’ - I want something exciting to happen, I want to read stories more exciting than I have in my own personal repertoire and frankly the stories I have from my own life are more captivating than this one. I’m so glad I’ve read it though because never again will I read a book based on mass recommendation.

I didn’t know anything about Queen before watching this movie, but I know and like the vast majority of their songs. I enjoyed the film, but it was honestly the least surprising film I’ve ever watched. Like, if I had to have a guess at what happened during the film, knowing nothing about Queen except they were very good and Freddie died of AIDS, I probably could have guessed ALL the main plot points. I thought if they’d made a movie about it, it was because there were some significant things that people didn’t realise about the rise of Queen, but this didn’t seem to be the case.
