I was so excited to watch this tonight. But was left extremely disappointed. I was open minded, I havent read any of the books, knew nothing about how it should be. Just thought it would be ok from the trailer. The film looked rushed, I didnt form any bond with any of the characters. Probably because I dont get what was going on, just some affects, few supposedly good props and disney thought it would make a good film. I genuinely ended up falling asleep throughout the film, finding it extremely hard to stay awake and watch! I promise I'm not exaggerating, maybe they was more depth but I fell asleep during it hmmm (think not). I was awake for at least the full 40 minutes from the beginning but clearly didn't do its job. Oh the best part was the opening scene of loads of reporters outside the mansion, I genuinely thought "oh this looks a good film" just from that part alone, but it literally goes done hill from there. Dont think kids will enjoy it at all, as an adult I didn't have a clue, so my 14 year old and 11 year old was even more confused and bored. They did manage to stay awake although the 14 year old made a sneaky break free half way through ( I was prob sleeping at that point). Feel sad to leave Sisney a 1 star, as I do normally love all things Disney, but this was a flop. On a alternative note, I did watch Maleficent 2 last week, (critics reviews are very unfair) this was absolutely fantastic (5 stars from me) so if you have the choice between the two, hopefully I can lead you down a better path with Maleficent 2
