I watched this show right after I finished Something in the Rain and I immediately saw the similarities, particularly in the film setting and the cast.
Something I loved:
1) How bold the plot and characterization are .
I have personally never watched a kdrama in which the female lead vows to protect the male lead. I know this may seem like a tiny, trivial detail, but I was completely astounded. I loved that they showed that men too can be vulnerable, can need care; that they don't always have to be macho cause they are human too and have feelings and emotions. Similarly, the female lead followed her heart and not what was expected of her as a "woman." She was an individual.
Something I did not love:
1) The atmosphere of the scenes
A few scenes into the show, I knew it had to have had the same director as Something in the Rain. Most of the scenes are in nearly completely dark environments. I did not like this, but I found it extremely intriguing. I wonder if it is intentional. Are the seemingly claustrophobic settings supposed to be a representation of our minds where our most inner and deepest thoughts and desires reside? Where they play freely without society's judgement and suppression? I thought of this because like the couple in Something in the Rain, jeong-in and ji-ho are the happiest when they are alone, away from the world.
Nonetheless, it was too many dark scenes for my poor eyes lol. And I guess I was looking for more light due to how 2020 went down.
In conclusion, it is such a refreshing show. I think it'd be worth your time :)
