Auntie Mame was an extraordinary movie addressing issues way ahead of its time. You may find it silly to say but this movie had a profound effect on my life. Early on when her orphaned nephew arrives on Mame's doorstep, she tells him: "I'm your Auntie Mame and I'm going to open doors for you that you never knew existed." I used that mantra as I raised my own children years later. It's a wonderful movie about a real NY character. Rosalind Russell is wonderful.
