So this game smacks of a team that just didn't care honestly. Maybe they tried to please the historical TW fans and the Fantasy fans at the same time, but in my opinion it didn't work.
I've been playing Total War since Shogun 1, and each game has it's up and downs. The ups of Troy for me were a very, very nicely themed/looking campaign map, some nice battle maps and the whole 5 resources experiment.
The bad was that it is a hugely tedious game, and the battles are some of the most tedious parts of it. If I had paid for this I'd have been fuming honestly. I seriously cannot recommend that you actually pay money for this game. I'd stick with warhammer 2 or Rome 2, hell go and play Rome 1 or Med 2 which still have a ton of charm.
Troy is nothing but a side project rushed out the gates in an attempt to please everyone, which instead leaves it in something of a no-man's land.
