The movie is absurd. Billed as grandmother and grandson bonding against his parents/her daughter & husband, who treat them as infants, there is relatively little of that. Most of the movie involves 93-year old Thelma and her fried Ben driving across LA on a scooter to get revenge on a crook who scammed her out of $10,000. Ben initially tries to stop her, but after she steals his scooter, smashes someone else's scooter and steals a gun from a 3rd person, Ben changes his mind. Why? Why not just go to the police? The suggested premise sounded interesting but none of this movie makes any sense.

"Slow" doesn't begin to describe this movie. "Tedious" is the word my wife and I settled on. The scenes are agonizingly repetitive. Except for Regina, none of the characters are really likable. As mom notes, Lacy is aggressive. She's also manipulating and dishonest. Yet, mom always defers to her, even leaving a bottle of antibiotics for Lacy to use or not (Lacy's choice) for a supposed affliction Lacy claims she has to miss school while mom goes out with Avi - even though she knows her daughter is troubled and opens the movie by threatening to kill herself. Why would you leave a troubled kid who threatened to kill herself with a bottle of pills? Oh, and the Roches song featured in the previews never actually appears in the film. I've never seen a preview do that before.

The first 45 minutes are interesting but the movie drags after that. The movie endlessly repeats its sex scenes - 6 or 7 in the brothel when the same point could be made with 1 or 2. The ending is just silly. This is a 90 minute movie stretched out to 141 minutes. The acting is good and sets are interesting but that's not enough.

1st half of the movie is a great, funny satire. The 2nd half is at times repetitive and the long mom speech is a bit heavy-handed. But a fun movie.

Can't believe they kept filming the entire time.

Great film. Crowe is extraordinary.

Like all new shows, it took a few episodes to get up and running. But midway through the first season, the show found its identity and is pretty funny. I like and care about all the characters. Glad I stuck with it.

Many fact errors. Shiloh did not start with Union men caught in their tents but because Col Peabody sent out a recon force that bumped into Reba at 5 am giving Union a 90 minute warning. And Buell adding 13,000 fresh troops to start the 2d day of the battle is glossed over.
