Will go down as one the worst movies I have ever seen. Great actors but a script that resembles a 12 year olds attempt after ODing on Kool Aid and Skittles. The only laughs to be had are in the trailer so save your money for something worth watching. I will add that Jamie Dornan has great potential as a comedic actor, just too bad this script was so, so, so awful.

Very thought provoking. Was it good? It was different. Was it bad? Not at all. Robert Pattinson plays his role to perfection, as always. Juliette Binoche(sp) did a great job being a nut case.i wish I'd have not watched it alone, so many opportunities to discuss points of this movie missed. I think I am certain of the ending though, the makeup gives it away.

I didn't realize I'd seen this film before I started watching it again. Obviously it was forgettable. Kerry Mulligan's character was weak willed for being such a strong woman otherwise, and she had horrible taste in chosing the childish soldier to marry. It was apparent he had no honor or intelligence. I liked Michael Sheen in his role, though he made a fool of himself over Bathsheeba when she showed no romantic interest in him at all. Gabriel, played by Matthias Shoenaerts, was the only real man of the trio. This film should have never been made, or made by someone who could do justice to Hardy's novel. By Lisa Anderson

I've tried to write a review of this film a dozen times to no avail. It is simply beyond description in its ability to make you feel...well, everything.

Sometimes we come across a film that for all intents and purposes should leave us bored or rolling our eyes at all the cliches to be found in it. And then that illusive something that is unnamed and undefined trickles into our subconscious ever so slowly and we find ourselves captivated for no apparent reason, but caught nonetheless. Tessa, our heroine, has been strangled by her bitter and angry mother and finally gets an opportunity to breathe. Hardin, our Hero (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) has a laundry list of issues, the major one being the son of a raging alcoholic who was sitting in the pub drunk while Hardin's mother was raped and beaten in front of him when he was a lad of eight. That'd mess up any kid, likely permanently. Tessa's an innocent, Hardin's jaded but there's something - I'd call it meeting and recognizing your soul mate- that brings them together for a lovely and dysfunctional romance. I adored this film. Hero Tiffin is amazing in this film. His character exhibits a plethora of attitudes, from sweet, kind and romantic to angry, volatile and cruel. Josephine Langford is delightful as Tessa, innocent, eager for life and determined. The script was well written, my only negative was costuming. Hardin's attire reflected the role perfectly, while Josephine's clothes were either frumpy or appropriate for a twelve year old girl. I get that the costume designers were trying to project innocence, but did they need to go ugly to get their point across? Modest does not equate childish. And then in other scenes her attire has her breasts almost falling out of her top. Poor choices there but otherwise a very good movie if you enjoy a beautiful romantic film.

I loved this movie! Great performances by all of the cast, I fell in love with Rosemary and Anthony. Spectacular scenery, plenty of laughs and a sweetness that is pure and honest. I cried happy tears more than once.. And the accents? Who cares? It was close enough to pure Irish yet easy to understand what was being said. by Lisa Anderson

Outstanding film with a wonderful cast! RDJ and Robert Duval's electric performances are captivating and believable, heartwarming and heartbreaking. I gave this 5 stars, I never have given 5 stars to any film before but this one, well, it will go down as one of the best I've ever watched.
