I always love nuance & understatement. This movie required slightly less understatement. I wasn't sure how he found her, couldn't hear it right at the moment I needed to. I assumed he used her location, from her phone. Sending a message about psychological abuse requires less nuance, for those watching that are presently undergoing same.if you didn't understand what you were watching, despite the hair pulling out, you might be unsure how she felt about it. And it seemed that she envied a missing person (before body was found) so it would have been more appropriate, and balanced, had he gone missing as well. The scene by the car leaves one expecting he'll be hit with the maul, accurately bc of the foreshadowing.Did she drown herself? Or the light at the top of the water implied that she didn't . I liked it BUT if you've been in a psychologically abusive situation....the nuance lead you there. You doubted yourself bc signals subtle at first. It would have been more satisfying had she accurately used the maul vertically on his head, as she did with the wood. Put him in the attic of the abandoned cottage
