10 hours in, and while I haven’t progressed much in the story, I want to leave my initial review. Will update once I have completed the game. I love it. Arceus: Legends is the Pokémon game I have been waiting years for. The new catch/battle mechanic is wonderful, as is the crafting. This is a game perfect for long time fans and new ones. I look forward to future games in this style! Many people have rated it poorly due to its graphics, but I do not think it detracts from the gameplay. What I value far more is the lore, the strategy, and the open world. I have spent hours just running around, watching and catching the Pokémon I encounter. The characters side quests are meaningful, if repetitive. In a time before Pokemon working alongside humans, the distrust and fear people have for these creatures is understandable and this aspect of world building is so enjoyable. As the first of its kind, I expect hiccups, bug fixes, and a lot of hate for how the game has completely changed. I do hope we get a DLC. It would be nice to walk with a Pokémon like in previous games.
